Your Body Has Been Talking. Are You Listening?
A Conversation About Learning to Notice What Your Body Needs.
Your body has been talking…
Your shoulders are tight. Your jaw is clenched. Your back aches after sitting all day. Your feet feel heavy.
You're tired, but somehow still can't relax.
And maybe you've gotten so used to these things that you don't even think about them anymore.
We become accustomed to what we shouldn't have to tolerate.
We often think tension happens to us. But tension can accumulate through:
stress
repetitive movement
sitting for long periods
physical activity
poor sleep
emotional strain
constantly being “on”
And because these sensations often build gradually, we can become accustomed to them.
Something that once felt unusual eventually becomes the norm.
Awareness comes before intervention.
Before we can respond to what our bodies need, we have to notice what they're telling us.
We don't immediately need to fix it. We can simply notice:
Where am I holding tension?
What does my body feel like when I'm stressed?
What changes when I finally slow down?
Pause. Notice. Breathe.
Drop your shoulders.
Unclench your jaw.
Take a slow breath.
Notice your neck.
Notice your shoulders.
Notice your hands.
Notice your back.
Notice your legs.
Where are you holding tension?
So where does massage fit into all of this?
Massage can be one way to intentionally create time and space to reconnect with your body.
It can help you become more aware of areas where you're carrying tension and encourage you to pay attention to how your body feels before, during, and after the experience.
And importantly: You don't have to wait until something hurts to begin paying attention.
Massage can be part of maintenance and wellness—not only recovery.
Take a moment to listen.
Ask yourself: What has my body been trying to tell me lately?
What sensation or tension have I been ignoring?
What might be contributing to it?
What is one small act of care my body could use right now?
Your body doesn't need you to become an expert. It needs you to start listening.
This is Let's Talk Massage.
A growing collection of conversations designed to help you better understand your body, massage, and the role intentional touch can play in your wellness.
Small Steps Create Big Shifts
It All Begins Here
Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.
The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.
You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
